Let’s see, there has been: Shaq, Jordan, Magic, Kobe, Clemens, Bonds, A-Rod, Dwayne Wade, and a much longer list that goes on, and on, and on… So, again, why are people so shocked at Steve McNair’s infidelity? Well, I think there may be a two-part answer to that. First, Steve McNair was found dead with his cheat, two to the head and two to the chest, that’s a bad way to go—say what you will about divorce—it’s not death. Second reason is the PR/Marketing image the NFL Man of Year Award had ideally created for McNair.
Bottom line, a lot of athletes keep girls on the side, and though they really should come out with it, not many do, and not many end up in a scandal that implicates the girl and the athlete in homicide. Either way, we’re sorry that McNair had to lose his life. We wish his family the best. And hope he R.I.P.
